These projects have included such iconic items as sculptures and monuments at Arlington National Cemetery, where Ponsford served as conservator for 22 years for various memorials, ranging from the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier to the archetypal marble headstones of our nation's fallen. For five years, Ponsford also served as Training Conservator for the Chickamauga Battlefield, the first major battlefield of the Civil War to be fought in Georgia and second only to the Battle of Gettysburg in number of casualties. In this capacity, Ponsford instructed aspiring conservators in techniques to properly conserve and preserve over 300 artifacts, monuments, and statues there. Other specialties include architectural facades, trains, aircraft, armaments, and all manner of artifacts, big and small, from relics of the RMS Titanic to Martin Luther King Jr's bible.
