Growing up surrounded by fine art and antiques, Gordon developed a passion for preserving history at an early age, along with a deep respect for the craftsmanship, cultural value, and stories these objects carry through time. Gordon’s early work in auto-body repair and architectural metal restoration laid the groundwork for his career in cultural artifact and monument conservation. His pivotal shift came at Arlington National Cemetery, where he maintained federal contracts for preserving headstones, monuments, and public sculptures at Arlington for over 22 years.
Under his leadership, Ponsford Ltd. has evolved into a globally recognized firm, celebrated for precise, high-integrity restoration work in both on-site and studio settings. Gordon’s portfolio boasts some of the nation’s most iconic restoration projects, including the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and Martin Luther King Jr.’s Bible. Additionally, he has meticulously preserved invaluable artifacts for prestigious institutions such as the Smithsonian, the National Park Service, and numerous U.S. military installations.
